The Daisy
Put the four white edges around the yellow centre — a white "daisy" that sets up the whole white cross.

How to hold the cube
Hold the cube with the yellow centre facing up. Keep it there for this step and the next.
Centres never move relative to each other, so the yellow centre defines the top of your cube — and the white centre is therefore already at the bottom. You will use that fixed frame for the entire solve.
The goal of this step: get the four white EDGE stickers directly around the yellow centre, like petals of a daisy. The petals’ side colours do not need to match anything yet — that is the next step’s job.
There are no algorithms here. Find each white edge and bring it up next to the yellow centre with one or two turns. A white edge on the bottom comes straight up with a half turn of its face. A white edge in the middle layer comes up with one side turn. A white edge already on top but flipped (white facing sideways) needs to be dropped out and brought back correctly.
The one golden rule: before you bring an edge up, turn the top (U) so that no finished petal sits in the spot you are about to use. Clear the landing zone first, then lift.
Why the daisy first? Building the white cross directly means matching two things at once — white up AND side colours aligned. The daisy splits that into two easy halves: first gather the whites, then match the colours one petal at a time.
Done-check: yellow centre with four white petals around it. Ignore everything else on the cube.

A white edge is on the bottom layer with white facing down, at the front: a half turn of the front face sends it straight up (turn the top first if a petal already sits there).
A white edge sits in the front-right middle slot with white facing front: R lifts it onto the top, white up.
Tips
- One petal at a time — never chase two whites at once
- Always clear the landing spot with a U turn before lifting
- Ignore side colours completely in this step
- Petals are edges — white corners wait until later
Common mistakes
- Knocking placed petals off while lifting the next one
- Wasting time matching petal side colours (that is the next step)
- Bringing white corners up instead of edges
- Leaving a petal flipped — white must face UP, not sideways
