Until now, a smart-cube solve showed you your time and a split by stage. But the cube knows much more: every turn and the moment it happened. The new Coach reads your latest solves and turns them into a few clear tips. The screenshots show real numbers from Arvind, who makes CubersDen.

Where your seconds are

At the top, the Coach shows up to three changes that would help you most, each with about how many seconds it would save you per solve. Each one has a “Practise” button that opens the right drill, or the algorithm trainer with the right cases picked.

The Coach: three things to improve, each with an estimate in seconds, PLL case diagrams for Y, Gc and Ab
For Arvind: plan the whole cross (≈ 2.9 s), learn full OLL (≈ 2.4 s), and the PLLs he still does in two steps (≈ 2.2 s).

The Coach sees, for example, which PLLs you do in one step with a full algorithm and which still take you two, and tells you which to learn first. It also sees the F2L cases where you use many more turns than you need, and how long you stand still before each pair.

Why your best was your best

The Coach puts your fastest solve next to your usual one, stage by stage, and says honestly what was luck and what was you.

Arvind’s 19.07: a pair done with the cross, an easy scramble, a short F2L, a one-step PLL and fast turning.

On the page of any solve in your top ten you get the same explanation for that solve.

Your cross against the shortest one

For every scramble the Coach works out the shortest possible cross. That way it can tell a hard scramble from a cross that was not planned.

Chart: how many turns the cross took against the shortest possible cross, with a table
When the shortest cross is 4 turns, Arvind needs about 6. From 5 turns on, the plan falls apart.

Week by week

Average, cross, the pause before an F2L pair and PLL time, week by week. The Coach also notices on its own when you learn a new full algorithm.

Arvind has done Y and F in one step since 9 and 10 October.

Where and on which cube

By default the Coach looks at your timer solves. With the filters you can pick rooms, the weekly competition, ghost races or Apple TV, one cube, and a period. A table at the bottom compares how you do in each place and on each cube.

How to start

Only you can see your Coach. It is on the website now; the phone apps get it in one of the next versions.
